SatFinder (Satellite Finder) is a tool that will help you set up a satellite dish. It will give you the LNB azimuth, elevation and tilt for your location (based on GPS) and the satellite chosen from the list. The result is shown both as digital and graphical data on google maps. It also has a built in compass which will help you find the correct satellite azimuth. It can also use augmented reality to show where the satellite is in the view of the camera.
Compass only works on devices with a compass sensor (magnetometer).
How to use this app:
1. First of all, you need to turn on GPS and Internet on your phone. Remember – in most cases it is impossible to receive the GPS signal inside buildings. So if you want to get the location very precise – please go near the windows or even go outside.
In the current location of the app version should be found quite immediately. So if you stuck with the ‘no location’ message please make sure that you have allowed yourself all the required features / permissions.
2. If the app finds your position, you need to select desired satellite. To do this, you need to find the icon with the magnifying glass and tap on it. On the list you will find all the satellites with an elevation angle above zero degrees. Remember: the name of the satellite does not affect the calculation of angles. The important thing is the position of the satellite.
3. The azimuth angle, elevation and tilt is calculated for your location and chosen satellite. Under Calculated Values, there is a compass with a graphical representation of the azimuth angle. The azimuth angle is calculated with a magnetic tilt. Remember – every time you use the compass – you have to calibrate it. green line represents your azimuth phone. So if the green and red compass lights are on each other – in front of the phone should show you the direction of the satellite. If the compass value is correct – Phone azimuth value will go green.
